heelo i wanted to takl about voicebankc and character mnaxots, so here we are

ill proabbly be updating this apge more in the fufute !!

ok first touch grass/ youll live/ im not reading all that/ who cares, yes ok got it thank you fore the input,, i just liek vocal sytnhs, like their character mascots, like writing, and like sharing my needless thoughtson things, so i will do that,, i am writing this for fun and enjoyment, for myself (hence why its tucked away in a piss random corner of my website). if you disagree with my takes on these things i dont actually care, its really not that big of a deal,, im not looking to have my mind changed, and im not looking to change the minds of others,, im just sharing what i think because i want to, and to mayve give poeple a different pov to consider on this topic. if you have something you want to share with me personally on this, want to point out any mistakes i made, or just want to add some thoughts of your own, then feel free to reach out to me, but if youre looking to argue then look elsewhere

most vocal synths consist of both a character mascot and a voicebank(vb). a character mascot is the anime girl on the art; its the character used to represent the voicebank,, the vb is the actual voice, the folder of voice clips, the thing one buys a license for when purchasing a vocal synth. some vocal synths dont have character mascots though, they dont have an official character design used to represent them,, (you can also have just the character mascot sort of,, fanloids are fanmade characters that do not have vbs,, vocaloid ocs ig). here are some example to explain what i mean:

character mascot

some synths even have different names from their mascots and vbs

i hope this makes the difference between the character and the voicebank clear,, the character mascots are just, fictional characters used to represent the voicebank, and the voicebank is the actual software. think of like, the green giant mascot, as they also represent a product. so, the character mascots can have canon infromation !! i see a lot of people say taht "there is no canon in vocaloid" or whatever, which is just wrong. while sure, a lot of companies will encourage fan interpretations of their synths, that doesnt change the fact that the characters still have canon infromation !! this is things like miku being 16yo, her having blue twin tails, and her being 158cm tall.

what does this mean for fan interpretations ? absolutely nothing ! you can and absolutely should amek your own versions of the character mascots, its a lot of fun !!! but, fan interpretations of vocal synth character mascots are the same as fan interpretations or headcanons for any other fictional character, like anime or manga ones. you can interpret miku or any other synth however you want, and draw them however you want, not because "theyre just voices", but because theyre fictional characetrs !! theyre characters like any other !!! these just happen to represent voicebanks to sell merch to be a base for creators to use in their works,,

you can also just, ignore the canon character mascot, or make a new one based off of the official one,, like, vocal synths being "just voices", just the software, means you can draw or use anything to represent the voice, but that doesnt mean its going to resemable or be recognisable as the offical character mascot. like, if you draw a "miku" that doesnt look like miku at all and you say "miku is jsut a voice, she can look like anything" youre wrong, but if you say "anything can be used to reperesnt mikus vb" youd be correct. miku has a canon appreance, but you can totally ignore that if youre just looking at the vb,, think of songs that feature ocs ! like goodbye sengen for example

a screen shot from the mv for the song goodbye sengen. it features an anime-style character on a yellow background from the waist up. she is wearing a large, baggy white hoodie and is looking at the viewer while smiling. she has her hands up, one in front of her as a peace sign, and the other behind her as an OK sign

this is a song which features vflower as the singer, yet the character in the mv doesnt resemble flower at all,, it is instead an oc, rena nanase,, so you can use any character to represent a voicebank, even if they dont resemble the offical character mascot at ! like thats ok !! this is the kind of thing where vocal synths being voicebanks lets you use any character to represent them, like here vflower is being used as an intrusemnt just, but that doesnt mean the character of flower doesnt have a canon design,

i hope this all makes sense !!! vocal synths character mascots do have canon designs, and cnaon lore like siblings for example, but you can still draw them however you want becaue theyre are still fictional ! and you can just focus on the voicebank and ignore the character.
i have absoultely nothing against vocal synhtt designs that deviate from the canon, i think theyre great actaully i love them, it just bothers me when people cant tell the difference between the character and the voicebank
